Keymark Construction Celebrates Slab Milestone for Hemminghouse Homes in Terre Haute

Keymark Construction joined project partners and community leaders on Wednesday to mark an important construction milestone for Hemminghouse Homes, a new permanent supportive housing development on Terre Haute’s north side.

The event, known as a Slab Celebration, followed the completion of the building foundations and signaled the transition into vertical construction. Attendees gathered at the project site at the corner of North 14th and Chase Streets to view the building footprint, learn more about the development, and participate in a slab signing to commemorate the occasion.

Hemminghouse Homes will include four duplex buildings, providing eight one-bedroom apartments designed to serve individuals experiencing homelessness whose disabilities are long in duration and significantly impact their ability to secure and maintain stable housing. The project is supported by $2.2 million in funding from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority and is located at 619 and 621 North 14th Street.

The development is led by Mental Health America of West Central Indiana in partnership with ALK Development, with Keymark Construction serving as the general contractor. Mental Health America of West Central Indiana operates multiple supportive housing developments in the community and provides prevention, advocacy, education, and mental health services throughout the region.

Remarks were shared by:

  • Myra Wilkey, Chief Executive Officer, Mental Health America of West Central Indiana

  • Andrea Kent, Founder, ALK Development

  • Jesse Tohill, Chief of Staff, City of Terre Haute / Mayor’s Office

  • Jacob Hellmann, President, Keymark Construction

For Keymark Construction, the milestone represents more than just a completed slab—it marks the beginning of transforming plans into safe, lasting homes that will serve the community for decades to come.

Projects like Hemminghouse Homes reflect the importance of strong local partnerships, thoughtful planning, and quality construction in addressing complex community needs. As work continues, the focus now turns to framing, utilities, and the many steps ahead before the development welcomes its first residents.

Keymark Construction is honored to play a role in bringing this important project to life and looks forward to sharing progress as Hemminghouse Homes continues to take shape.
