A client of our commercial business approached Keymark Homes to build their dream home. After a budget was set, plans were reviewed and a timeline put in place - the fun began. This was not a typical neighborhood or curbside development. This was a getaway – a modern home to be built in a rustic setting.
The goal was to give the site a new lease on life as an idyllic sanctuary for the owners, their family and friends. Terrain and existing infrastructure presented challenges. The home-site was a piece of land surrounded on three sides by water – a rural lake left behind by an abandoned strip mine. And vehicle entry to the site included a long one-lane drive of mud and loose gravel. It was the perfect opportunity to showcase Keymark Homes’ unique capabilities.
We used creativity and engineered solutions to build a home that would grow into, and blend in with, its surroundings. At entry, you are greeted by a custom, solid-wood door. Once inside, the 5,000-square foot home has character and authentic touches abound, including exposed beams, a custom winding staircase, architectural stone accents and a vaulted great room and living room with floor-to-ceiling windows. Large viewing windows of the great room and the surround-view of the 4-season room extend a seamless connection between living space and the outdoors.
Far-removed from city utilities, Keymark Homes installed a reverse-osmosis system and geothermal heating/cooling system to create enduring comfort and efficiency.
